BIO
  • Work on a range of genres, Live Events and Corporate in particular
  • Clients I have produced work for (in some cases indirectly) include Media City, Barclays, NHS, Topman.com, Vodafone and Siemens
  • Familiar with various camera formats and configurations including RED, XDCAM/EX, Canon DSLR, P2, Long Lens and Triax including Sony HDC/HXC, Green Screen
  • Own equipment (including P2 HD, Sound, Monitors)
  • Intermediate supporting skills in editing that serve to aid my shoot-to-edit/DV Director camera work; have shot and in some cases edited work for many corporate clients
  • Worked frequently in DV Director role. Able to direct, and to accommodate and support the psychology of unfamiliar and perhaps nervous contributors. Very familiar with shoot-to-edit and will always shoot with Editor/Gallery Director in mind
  • Quick, dexterous, efficient and perceptive in operating and handling ability
  • Able to cognitively storyboard/edit on-the-fly whilst recording to gather all shots required for the editor in one pass, reducing the chance of needing a second take and to give the editor plenty of choice (particularly specific to documentary work, for example)
  • Constantly consider and fulfil narrative in corporate and documentary work
  • Have occasionally channelled creativity toward directing and editing short films and music videos as well as lensing them

LIVE CONCERT WORK

  • Experience in all positions - handheld, skids and long lens
  • Naturally creative when shooting to music - very capable of adjusting shooting style to suit the tone of the piece of music being played whilst maintaining originality where appropriate
  • Extremely good hand-eye coordination, timing and responsiveness (e.g. motif to shot length, pick-up/drop-off to live mix, bar counting), and second-nature ability to work creatively and inventively on-the-fly.
  • Always thinking one step ahead as to the imminence of events on stage, other cameras' intentions (with or without Return Function or Comms) and the balancing of shots. Able to use initiative and anticipate for the director to give the best range of shots as quickly as possible
  • Natural dynamic flair when shooting to music; become very involved with and 'feel' each piece as if the camera is a musical instrument itself
  • Ideal for pit or on-stage; slight figure benefits the latter for moving around quickly and stealthily without being easily spotted by other cameras, and creative flair benefits the former
  • Have a musical background which includes both Classical and Popular music, including numerous live performances. Very familiar with orchestra layout and instrumentation, musical terminology and stage etiquette
